Andy Krieger was born in North Carolina and raised in San Francisco but has spent most of his life in Vancouver, BC. That's why he speaks with an American accent, the basis of his K- Method accent reduction process.
After graduating from Stanford University, he joined the Peace Corps and spent 2 years teaching in Ethiopia. Andy obtained his teaching certificate in BC and for 10 years, he taught elementary and high school students in the lower mainland of B.C.
He has also worked in Los Angeles for Warner Bros. and for Central Casting as an extra- casting director, hiring extras for CHEERS, M.A.S.H., PRETTY WOMAN, ROCKY IV, STARGATE: THE NEXT GENERATION and scores of other movies, TV shows, and commercials.
In 1997, while working for the local actors union, he was asked by a U.S. film producer to help some Canadian actors with their speaking techniques. That's how he developed the K Method language delivery system that teaches students the right tongue and lip positions to pronounce each word without an accent.

It is the first time when I have taken a pronunciation course. Even thought I don't have another precedent to compare, I found the course very interesting and useful. You said things which I haven't thought about before. It is true, talking rarely and following your rules about how it should be the mouth and tongue at the beginning of the words helps for accent reduction.
The teaching method is great.Using a camera, it is easy to see, understand and control the way the words should be said. Also, having few people, you could pay attention and make everyone to understand what it is wrong and how it can be changed.
Maintain this kind of speaking away from class is not really difficult.In my case, when I start talking and I see that the person who I talk with doesn't understand me, I remember about "the hand rhythm".
Achieving accent reduction is not very easy, but keeping the essential rules in mind and practicing, at one moment, the words will just come correctly with not thinking any more about them.
In my opinion, the course was worth the money. I learned something else new about English which will help me to integrate more easier in the Canadian society.
I definitely recommend the class to others.It is a easy, interesting and entertaining way to understand and learn a correct pronunciation of words;it is very important to be understood by people that I talk with.

Thanks for giving us such a wonderful course.
I would say this is the missing puzzle which I am looking for and complements
very well with other traditional oral English/pronunciation trainings.
The class is intensive but effective. I have never seen people so focused
in class ever yet in such an cozy atmosphere to learn effectively. This
have to be the results of many years of distillation and experiment
and what we are having are the very essence of the method.

I wanted to say a big thank you to you for your help and support as
I worked on my American accent this year, going from my native British.
Your classes were of tremendous value to me, not just by
giving me practical skills to approach an American text, but also by
giving me the confidence to got out there and try it in the field.
As a testament to your teaching skills let me tell you that I recently
got my first job in an American accent on the film X-Men 2.I have a
dozen scenes and will be working with nearly all of the main stars,

I really enjoy your DVD! I am trying to watch and imitate your way of
speaking every day, even for 15 minutes. I hope my English will improve
more and more!
Thank you very much for the accent reduction class last Saturday. It
was very helpful for me and good surprise that it is simple ways to
reduce my accent.
Since then, I have tried to talk slowly and clearly. Then I notice not
only that people understand what I am saying, also that I can maintain
peaceful my state of mind. Before, I was trying to speak fast to catch
up with the speed of talk of my relatives and I often got upset because
I could not make myself understood and also I was not be able to understand
what people are talking about. Then I blamed myself for that.
After the class, I gained confidence to speak up and have potential
to speak English without accent. Your way of talking and teaching impressed
me so much and help learn effectively. My goal is to become an interpreter;
I have not decided whether its medical or legal. Accent reduction is
very important for me to achieve my goal.

many methods there are in reducing strong accent into a normal one. But yours
is a unique, excellent and pragmatic one.
You have developed a very good technique of accent reduction. Only in
three hours time you are giving a complete package of accent reduction.It
teaches how and where to place lips and tongue,how to take breath after making
a pause and when to release it in pronouncing a word with the help of
hand movement then indicating five stages of accent, nine groups of words
and some other related things. All together it seems to me as amazing. Really,

My name is Miguel, I'm originally from Cuba and have been living in
Toronto for the last fourteen years, I would like to thank you for the
DVD, I think it's magnificent, you must be a genius. When I first came
to Canada, I wanted to learn English , I would say that I reached that
goal some time ago, but there always was a nagging aspect, how to speak
more clearly? how to make myself better understood? specially when I
was talking on the phone. I tried different methods including the one
where a piece of wine bottle cork is used, I don't know if you ever
heard of that one, with the only result of a sore jaw.
At some point
I gave up, I said to myself, what bother I have a heavy accent so what,
I can get by, which is true, and then one day I learned about the Krieger
method, so I did try it, what a difference it made. I had only watched
twice and already the progress is amazing, people at work made some
comments, finally I can say beach instead of bitch, just imagine how
much trouble I wont be getting into. During the Superbowl I order a
pizza and for the first time nobody asked me to repeat, that's wonderful.
Andy I know that there is a long way to go, like you said you have to
learn to crawl before you learn to walk but I'm very excited, your method
showed results hence gave me the confidence that this time around I
would fulfil my dream of speaking English without a foreign accent.

Hey Andy,
Your teaching was absolutely awesome!! It was just last night at my
birthday party, I read my friends' wish cards out loud in front of everybody
(about 20people) fluently with no accent and with nice pauses, nice
and slow. Me, myself, has already noticed a big difference, and I bielieve
my friends noticed that too. The whole night I was speaking english
more slowly and making each word clear to be heard. And I was even more
happy because of your teaching of the proper positions of lips and tougne,
I can sing english songs better now. The words that came out of my mouth

Lesson Learned
1. Speaking slow is the key to get clear messages passing between both
parties.
2. No one will complain you speak slow but clear. They do complain you
speak too fast but cannot catch what you are talking about.
3. Andy's technique is find very useful when dealing with the party
also
gets strong accent.
4. For every conversation, I will practice using Andy's technique for
at
least one sentence. And I just did it yesterday when I gave a call to
UK
who I've never encountered before. Feeling so good.

I just love American English and didn’t have the slightest idea that you were from California, until you mentioned it in the class, so everything worked perfectly well for me… and yeah for a 2.5 hour class what I got was great. I think my (Phillipino) accent is not bad and the words I speak is understandable. Not until I attended the course of Accent Reduction, that day I learn the proper way of speaking the English language. The simple steps in the course really made the difference and how Andy, with patience and enthusiasm, taught us the proper positioning of the tongue and lips before a word comes out from the mouth. From that unique instruction, the K Method, and with daily practice and implementation, I could reduce my accent and eventually talk like other english speaking individuals.
